St Ives 69 : 6 Hayle

Last Saturday at Alexandra Road St Ives welcomed their local rivals Hayle in their latest match in the Tribute Cornwall & Devon League. Before the match a reunion of players past and present was held in the clubhouse with many faces from years gone by attending.

Head coach Paul Thirlby named a strong side as the Hakes looked for their 4th straight win of the season; Neil Corin returned on the flank along with Louis Stevens,...

St Ives is able to field a strong squad to face local rivals Hayle Lions. This will be the first time in several years that the two teams have faced each other in a league match. Recent duals have featured on Boxing Day as 'friendlies'.  The last home encounter for St Ives was December 22nd 2012, when they won 18-13. Only five of that squad remain: see who was involved back then.

Honiton 24 : 39 St Ives SW

The St Ives 1st XV squad travelled to Honiton in East Devon for their second away match in the Tribute Cornwall & Devon League. Head Coach Paul Thirlby found himself with a number of 1st team regulars dropping out through injury or work commitments and had to reshuffle his side.

Travel issues for the St Ives team bus meant the kick off was delayed for 10 minutes as the Hakes did not arrive until half an hour before the...

Honiton V St Ives, Saturday 19th September

The list of names for round 3 of the Tribute Cornwall & Devon League is the most likely group to travel to Honiton on Saturday.

The front row looks particularly strong with a number of options. Ben Wheeler and Tony Stevens are propbable replacements. The latter has made himself available until at least the end of the year. What a bench to come on and give massive stability to the scrum. Joel Stevens is...

As recently as last Tuesday the outside walls were being given a new coat of paint.

Plymstock Albion Oaks 21 : 36 St Ives

The first game of the season saw St Ives travel to Plymstock Oaks RFC for the opening league match in the Tribute Devon & Cornwall League.

With a number of players unavailable through work, holidays or injury St Ives were still able to travel with a strong playing squad and 2 travelling reserves a luxury that was not available all of last season.

All the hard word put in during the pre-season certainly provid...

Sunday, September 6, 2015

St Ives got off to an encouraging start in the first league match of the season. Calm, warm conditions on a flat dry pitch allowed for plenty of open rugby from both teams. Plymstock were eager to show their right to play in a higher league, having beaten Veor in the end of season playoff. And they were no push overs. From the side-lines the St Ives supporters thought the opposition would 'blow' with 20 minutes to go, but this was never the cas...

St Ives will take a full squad and travelling reserves into their first match in their new league, Tribute Cornwall & Devon. The team also has a new look, with plenty of strength and experience. The pre-season promises are certainly showing true as a number of new players make their debuts.

With captain Ben Taylor unavailable, Joel Stevens steps in at hooker. Jess Tompsett comes in at loose head, with Ben Jenkins, back from cricket, adding weigh...
