St Ives 53 v 17 Tavistock

The next period of the match saw the visitors get right under the skin of the St Ives players and disrupt the Hakes further; at one point midway through the second half St Ives had 3 players in the sin bin as their discipline disintegrated, which inevitably allowed the visitors more space in which to use their effective backs. On 73 minutes Tavistock’s Luke Northmoor went over for his second try of the game with Lovell o...

With no 1stXV game this coming Saturday, may I remind everyone that there is a reserves game against Culdrose on Wednesday evening, 28th October 2015, KO 7:00pm under the floodlights.

For those who have already scrutinised the results for the Cornwall & Devon league last Saturday the following notes will be embeeded within your rugby grey cells. However, for those who have not, you will be interested to know that Falmouth beat Bodmin away, 22 : 2...

The squad for the Match against Tavistock shows a number of changes. A number of players remain on the injured list. However, the return of several 'old heads' should help with direction and sticking to game plan.

The front row of Tony Stevens, Ben Taylor and Jess Tompsett provides a solid foundation. Ben Jenkins gives more than adequate cover from the bench.

Louis Stevens locks along side Jamie Prisk, which should produce a good engine room. He...

Hayle Reserves 43 : 26 St Ives Reserves

This week, St Ives RFC were able to raise a 2nd team side for the first time in nearly 2 years and managed to get a game against our local rivals across the bay, Hayle on Wednesday the 14th.

St Ives travelled with a good team, some regular players and some having not played in a number of years and their aim was to do the early season double over Hayle. St Ives started the game strongly, using the weight a...

Falmouth Eagles 12 : 6 St Ives Hakes

Following last week’s victory in the Cornwall Cup it was back to league action for the Hakes last weekend in the Tribute Cornwall & Devon Division and they travelled to local rivals Falmouth for their latest match. Head Coach Paul Thirlby named a side including new signings Luke Collins in the second row, Laurie Manna in the centre and Aaron Rowe on the wing for his first start of the season.

The St Ives playe...

The ¼ final of the Tribute Cornwall Cup match St Ives against Hayle way at Hayle RFC has been handed to the Hakes, as a walk over.

This cup match was due to be played at Hayle next Saturday 17th October 2015.

The coaches and players are obviously disappointed but also understand the position that Hayle find themselves.

It was not too long ago that the reverse happened and the Hakes were providing a free passage way to the next round for the Hayle...

Hayle 2nds v St Ives Reserves

An historic piece of news and one which I am very proud to be able to announce: The reserve team is back in business. They have a fixture against Hayle next Wednesday 14th October at Hayle. OK, it is only one match, but ‘from small acorns….’

Your support would be really appreciated. It is a 7:00p.m. kick off.

Some of these may be taking to the rugby arena once again.

More new appearances from recent signings. Collins and Manna to start.

St Ives are able to field another strong squad for this Saturday’s 2nd round cup tie at Falmouth. However, there are several newcomers to the team so it will be necessary for them to gel together if their potential is to be realised. Falmouth have lost one game only this season. They should be considered a tough opponent. Performing as a team rather than talented individuals i...

Newquay Hornets 14 v 59 St Ives

Last Saturday St Ives Head Coach Paul Thirlby took his side to Newquay for their first round Cornwall Cup match against Newquay Hornets. Prior to kick off a minutes silence was respectfully observed by both sides for a former St Ives player and stalwart of the club William Bryant Barber who passed away last week. The rugby club extends their hearfelt condolences to the family.

The game began with Newquay settling...
