The stage is set for the dual against Devon club Sidmouth at the Recreation Ground at 3:00 tomorrow.  Several notable esteemed players from the locality recognise this as a ‘must win’. Assuredly, home games against teams that are close to The Hakes in the league table, and Sidmouth are one of them, provide a perfect opportunity to show how real the progress is with this group of players.

There is little change to the pack. St Ives has a small squa...

Torquay 22 v 15 St Ives

The Hakes slipped to their fourth successive defeat at the hands of Devon side Torquay last Saturday. Despite being defeated they notched up their third bonus point of the season.

There were four changes from the side that narrowly lost against visiting Exeter University last week. A new second row of Ben Jenkins and Jamie Hoskin replaced unavailable Jamie Prisk and Tom Chandler. In the backs, new signing Reece Gilbert, form...

St Ives 10 v 11 Exeter University

The St Ives 1st team squad came the closest yet to a victory this season when they entertained an un-beaten Exeter University side at Alexandra Road last Saturday.

Several changes were made to the team that travelled to Devonport last weekend. Ben Taylor returned to the side after shaking off the injury that prevented his participation last week. Tom Chandler returned after nearly 12 months in the second row alongs...

St Ives has a good looking squad for the match against Exeter University tomorrow, Saturday 17th September. The last time the teams met was in the same league (Western Counties West) at the same time of the year, with similar starts made by both clubs. Exeter University are riding high in second place with two wins. The Hakes lost 7:77 in that game two seasons ago. Only six players from then will be taking the field for St Ives tomorrow. Back the...

Devonport Services 29:23 St Ives

A number of enforced changes meant first away match looked to be a tough call, but the Hakes picked up a league point in a much improved performance. Indeed, this was a much they could have won. Right up to the last minute the game was in the balance.

Surprisingly warm, calm conditions on a wide pitch greeted St Ives for their first away game of the season. They started brightly, with plenty of attacking intent. Thi...

St Ives have their first away game of the season this Saturday and they will face Devonport Services with a number of changes from the side that played against Cullompton last week. Altogether there are four changes to the pack, one in the backs and one on the bench.

James Bishop and Ben Jenkins remain at prop. On another day their effective scrummaging would have found better reward than was the case at home in the first game. Young Joel Stevens...

St Ives 10 : 23 Cullompton

St Ives began the new season at home against Cullompton in the Western Counties West league. The Devon side are well established, many of their ranks having played for a number of years in the league above. The young St Ives contingent knew it would be a stern test of their ability, with five new signings and four home debutants. Only six of the team were regulars from last year.

Driving rain down the pitch away from the...

St Ives kick off the new season with some familiar names from last year’s highly successful campaign. There are also a number of new names and faces, mingled with some old ones. Many will be pleased that local St Ives lads are also featured in a game, even at this level, survives by the movement of players from various clubs. Indeed, Cullompton may benefit from the promotion of both Barnstaple and Exmouth into National League 2 South, with player...
