Forrest Eagerly Gets Into Close Shave

Over £1000 Raised

Mark Eager has raised the marvellous sum of £1100.00 from his fund raising for The Children’s Hospice South West and Little Harbour at St Austell in particular.

The hirsute head and face of the aptly named gentleman in question gave notice of 'the great shave off' of his furry features a few days before Christmas. Then, during the Boxing Day festivities at the clubhouse, after the hastily put together St Ives v St Ives fixture, the 'zero' cut took place. However, he did not end up with a Zorro style makeover, but he possibly looked like Samson must have after succumbing to the charms of Delilah! His current dead lift is down to probably no more than the weight of the nesting birds that were lodged in his beard. OK - mice. I know, I was being too kind. But enough of cutting remarks. Few of us would grow to such lengths for such a hair raising scheme for charity.

Our photo shows Mark before, during and after. Only during the piece does he have any appearance of enjoying life. And no! The right hand picture is not Greg Wallace - is it?

None of this would be possible without all those folk who so willingly put their hands in their pockets to give so generously. Mark would like to thank some local companies for their significant contribution. These include:

  • Tesco

  • The Garrack Hotel

  • Tregenna Castle Resort

  • St Ives MOT Test Centre

  • Mike Cullin Photography

Their sponsorship provided the back drop for a very successful auction held at the club during the evening.

Mark is now left with three key decisions; what to fund raise for next, what to do with all that hair and whether to grow his beard again, 'cus he looks so much better with it!

Christmas can easily fall into a, "What will I get....." mentality, but, as Winston Churchill stated, and I leave the thought with you, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."

Well done, everyone, especially Mark Eager. Top Man.
