St Ives SW v Paignton Preview

St Ives are able to field another strong side for the clash with Devon club Paignton at Alexandra Road this Saturday 12th September. Neil Corin continues in the back row, while David Bramwell, who travelled last week, comes in for injured Sam Heath, who will be out (with ligament trouble) for several weeks. Sean Stevens is unavailable. Martyn Lawrance is certain to make an impact again at No.8.

The front row is strengthened by the return of club captain, Ben Taylor, after injury. Young Joel Stevens moves to the bench after a very promising debut at Plymstock last week. Harry Parton and Jamie Prisk continue thier secone row partnership.

Jason Jackson played a solid game last week. His stand off is head coach, Paul Thirlby. What a pleasure to see him playing for St Ives once again. The centre partnership of Tom Nicholas, available from fire service duty, and Sam Bristow promises much. Sam makes his debut and we look forward to his contribution. This means that strong running Peter Mabbott moves onto the wing, with Nathan Allen building on an impressive debut. Lewis Thomas at fullback is another exciting prospect to jion the club during the summer.

With Louis Stevens committed to his other sporting avenues, the bench remains a useful one. Long term servant of the club, Ben Wheeler completes the squad along with Tom Chandler and Aaron Rowe.

A bonus point win against Plymstock leaves St Ives in a good position, but starting five points adrift they will want to achieve similar results to the previous encounters with Paignton when both were in Western Counties West in 2013-14.
