Positive Vibes at AGM

On Thursday 25th June a good number of members attended the AGM at the club. After a year of success on the field, the meeting was considerably happier than twelve months ago.

The usual reports were handed out prior to the meeting, from the chairman, honorary secretary and treasurer. In them various congratulations were given for the efforts and commitment of those who continued to help the club in many different capacities, both on and off the field.

The chairman stated that the club ‘should strive to play at the highest level we can’. This means more travel, higher costs and a need for developing regular second team fixtures. The accounts, although they were obviously dated for the previous year, showed a marked improvement. Sponsorship, advertising, rental and membership income had all increased. However, the real asset financially continues to be the car park, without which the club would struggle. Indications for this financial year were for further improvements.

The committee were thanked for their enthusiasm and hard work. All were voted to continue in their roles, which can be viewed elsewhere on the website. Dean Cuthbert decided to stand down. He was thanked for the commitment and time he has given whilst on the committee.

Little was said specifically about the playing squad for the coming season, but a considerable amount of work is being done to ensure that the club is ready for the higher standards in the Western Counties West league.

In an evening void of complaint or disappointment, with thanks spread across the room like a warm blanket on a replacement in the dugout on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, the most joyous part of the agenda was to make four supporters life members; Mike Rowe, Tommy Farrell, Nick Simpson and Charlie Guppy.
