Sad loss of former player

It is with much sadness that I have to report the loss of a former St Ives player. Terry Perkin has passed away. As a school boy he had, I believe, England trials. I have an abiding memory of Terry when, as a young lad, I accompanied him on his bakery round when he worked for Curnow’s. On one occasion he drove from Perranuthnoe back to St Ives in the old Comer van as though he were Jackie Stewart, just to be in time for a match. On another occasion he dumped me head first in a huge vat of flour, in the bakery that is now the British Legion.

Most of you will know that his sons, Jason and Scott, were both excellent rugby players who wore the St Ives shirt with pride. These days, Terry's grandchildren, Sam, Will and Beth, also continue the family's long relationship with the club.

Today, our thoughts and prayers are with all of Terry's family as they mourn the loss of their loved one. They are sure to have many wonderful memories which will emerge in the coming days. These will alleviate the sting and pain of their sorrow. In the meantime, please remember them.
