ST IVES RFC APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF WOMEN'S RUGBY š
A new pathway begins for The Herrings
St Ives RFC is delighted to announce the appointment of Joff Rowe as the club's new Director of Women's Rugby.
The appointment marks an exciting new chapter for rugby at St Ives, with Joff taking the lead in developing a clear and sustainable pathway for women and girls through the newly formed St Ives Herrings.
The Herrings have already created fantastic energy and momentum through women's tag rugby, bringing together players of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience.
The next stage of the journey will focus on building on that success and creating opportunities for more women to enjoy, develop and progress within the game.
As Director of Women's Rugby, Joff will work to develop a long-term pathway which will include:
Growing participation in women's rugby
Providing a welcoming and supportive introduction to the game
Developing players from beginner level through to competitive contact rugby
Creating stronger links between girls' and adult women's rugby
Building a strong coaching, volunteer and leadership structure
Establishing a sustainable and competitive future for The Herrings
Ensuring women's rugby becomes an integral part of the future of St Ives RFC
Joff Rowe said:
"The Herrings have already shown what can happen when you create a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment for women to come together and try rugby. We now have a fantastic opportunity to build on that momentum and create a genuine pathway for women and girls at St Ives RFC. A big thank you to the St Ives RFC for seeing the vision and supporting such an initiative.
Our aim is simple ā rugby should be open to everyone. Whether someone has never picked up a rugby ball before or wants to play competitive contact rugby. We want The Herrings to provide a place where they can belong, develop, make friends and enjoy being part of something special."
St Ives RFC already recognises the importance of developing the women's and girls' game, and the appointment represents another important step in the club's vision for the future. The club's own development plans highlight the continued growth of women's rugby and its ambition to create opportunities for players throughout the community.
The future for women's rugby at St Ives is now firmly underway.
The Herrings are growing.
Come and be part of the next chapter.
No experience is necessary. All abilities are welcome.
